The planning team met on Friday 19/06 and are now able to provide some updates
One of the crews visited some potential hotels in the region and have successfully identified the 4 star Hotel Abba in Comillas as the accommodation of choice. The staff were very welcoming with very reasonable prices proposed for half board. There is underground car parking and an onsite swimming pool at small additional costs. They currently have availability for the proposed hotel arrival date of 12/05/2027 (This is now capped at 20 rooms).

There are plans to create 6 driving routes of varying distances, and test drive the routes beforehand.
We hoped to offer an ABTA protected Brittany Ferry (BF) group discount booking travelling the return route of Portsmouth to Santander and staying at the Abba Comillas hotel, but there has been a communication glitch. We can, however, offer a BF group booking for the return Portsmouth to Santander ferry (this is a discount of approximately 15% compared to independent booking) - the quoted price is £896* return including a 4 berth inside cabin each way (additional charges apply for any upgrades).

This tour will allow you to experience the unspoiled region of the central northern coast of Spain. With its mountains, beaches and uncrowded roads it is a delightful place to tour. The routes have yet to be planned but they will include Mountain passes and alpine type villages, visiting some sections of the Camino Way. And driving along coastal routes passing through small towns and fishing villages with bays and beaches along the way. All on Spain's mirror smooth roads. No potholes!
The routes will be organised by a local cycle tour operator who knows the area well and is keen to help. He is English and has run his business in Spain for 20 years. There is also a local garage adjacent to Santander run by a delightful English speaking mechanic who specilaises in classic cars.
